Female Christian Singer Dez Childs
New Jersey-based female Christian singer
Dez Childs began playing at Christian events aged 12; the ups and downs of the intervening years have shaped her material into an ear-catching blend of honesty, spiritual truth and raw vocal power. Herself an acoustic guitarist, she is robustly accompanied on electric guitar by producer and husband Stephen Childs and by Rik Virella on bass. Embedded in this melodic fusion are some solid truths to feed the soul ("Proof enough for me, the heavens declare his majesty" - "Created"; "I'll fall into you and I'll let go of me" - "You Never Leave"). Childs provides all her lyrics, the exception being "Father's Song" (Tara Bruce) which will resonate with anyone familiar with the struggles of raising autistic children. While the occasional over-dubbed harmonies don't always come off, every track is marked by a dynamic singing voice that carries the gritty Christian content to another level. If this highly potent vocal performance is anything to by, Dez will be around for a long time.

Heart Cry Review
It doesn’t take long upon listening to the music of female Christian singer Dez Childs, to see that she is not only a very blessed and talented singer, but a songwriter and musician as well. Growing with family immersed in music and the music industry, you would think that being as good as she is came naturally and effortlessly; But upon closer examination, we learned that it wasn’t until her sixteenth birthday that she began to really study and focus on her vocal ability, musicianship and performance. Though, she never considered herself to be a singer or songwriter, you could regularly find her leading worship or singing in church or youth group. Her heart was for reaching the lost and sharing the love that God had given her with others. Though she didn’t realize it at the time, God was preparing her for a musical journey that not only challenged her faith, but stretched her musical ability as well. From this journey “Heart Cry” was born.

While there are many apps to help singers with their technique, warmup and specific skills, most fail to provide any real benefit. However, the Virtual Voice Lessons iphone app is the exception. Or, I should say, it is exceptional. The free lesson demonstrates that you can learn to sing and shows the depth of knowledge possessed by Steve Childs. Steve is the instructor in the videos that come with this app and he is truly an expert in his field. I was very impressed with his knowledge as well as his ability to convey somewhat complex ideas in a way that everyone can understand. I highly recommend this app for singers from beginner to advanced.
